The first decent ride of the Grand Bois Bicycle in Melbourne

June 8th, 2009 by akakumo

So far my Grand Bois (GB) has been interchanging with the Shogun in communting.

Today GB finally had a good run worth 43+km, a bit of the journey did not get recorded as the GPS spent some time searching a satellite.
20090608 Route 1

It’s a pretty slow ride, one in the group apparently was fatigue, one hasn’t rode for ages and one status unknown. We’ve planned to check out the Solar System installation along Beach Road, starting at Elwood with the Sun.

GB @ the Sun

The plan was very soon thrown out of the door as everyone tried to ride really fast and the planets pasted us before be even we knew. I did manged to stop and look at Jupiter, it looked like a lawn bowl exclaimed the apparently fatigue rider.

It was a relative pleasant ride, we’ve took turns to accompany our slower rider. The only painful part was to be overtaken by two naggie sounding old ladies.

Our plan was to end up back in St Kilda for lunch. So after coming back from Port Melbourne from Albert Park we placed ourselves in a nice warm cafe and digged into one of these…

Galleon Burger

It’s a really really good burger, I am ready to say it’s better than Andrew’s. I wasn’t particularly hungry at the time, but looking at it is enough to make me feel like I haven’t eatten in days. Wish the egg wasn’t optional.

After lunch, we went our separate ways. I went to check out Packer Park Velodrome. It is apparently very close to were I am living.

From Galleon to Velo

The fastest I have clocked at the moment with GB is 33km/hr. Only did two laps…I need to give it a try again with fresh legs and use Shogun and see if I can improve on it.

Taught a mate to ride #2

January 28th, 2009 by akakumo

While she was barely able to turn, she was definitely ready to buy a bike!
Of course I urged her on despite my disbelief~

And so we’ve picked up this beauty after she searched around the week before

Taught a mate to ride

January 10th, 2009 by akakumo

Shogun @ Fed Square
It’s being rather lonely riding by myself to places these days, and unless I have a set goal to ride to I have become a bit slack with getting out at all

So the plan is now to train up a mate to ride! Think about to get gelati in Victoria Av or visit the galleries in the City TOGETHER!!! *excited*

She was pretty freaked out by her previous attempt to learn (I wasn’t involved :P) so I thought the best way to get that negativity away is to multiply it by more negativity

And it turned out she did pretty well hehehe!
