Picasso & His Collection

Went back to Brissie with a pal just to see this exhibition. We also went to see lecture “Talking about modern art” afterward.

It’s a overwhelming experience, the lecutre have opened many questions as to our interpretion of artwork. I am personally don’t like to go in depth with all the meaning in every work. To be honest I don’t even think about the meaning of a work I do after it takes shape, then drop in a few additional elements into it to emphasis the meaning. Maybe that’s my style it’s too direct that way heh!

Who’s to say a piece of art has a particular meaning? It’s almost like who’s to say if it’s beautiful or not. Half the time I don’t even know what my own works convey…I drew a bird on a piece of paper it’s because I felt like drawing it, not because I want to convey a sense of freedom.

Like my pal said…”many of us like to look at an exhibition and appreciate the craftsmanship and what each one mean to you pesonally…knowing too much of “what the work may be” is no fun at all”

:)

As well as this amazing exhibition…We dropped by OUTPOST to checked out i used to skate once #4

Again I managed to scare Matt on my arrival, but being an amazing nice guy as he is I was given a copy of last 3 years “i used to skate once”book…I was slinently exited about seeing my work and my name on it…*feeling warm and fuzzy*

Can’t wait for you to pop down to do some “riding” Matt *wink*

Doing those fangirl things once again….

October 29th, 2007 by akakumo

Yes yes! kozyndan once again set foot on Aussie-land and like before, I am not gonna miss the chance to see them.

This year though, Catherine was replaced with Ben and Wing as my show buddies (poor cat cat..:{ ). Like everytime …I didn’t take any proper picture of the show because I was too busy in choosing what to get and too busy in thinking what to say to Kozy and Dan without sounding like a pathetic fangirl. Although in the end, my fangirl level did not in anyway drop throughout the time I was there, I did managed to get myself a nice print that is now proudly hanging in my simple unit.

And even though been nervous and all, I presented them with my “Create” illos….just wishing their creativeness just keeps coming! (although I didn’t get a chance to mention that at all because I was too nervous…)

Also, just out of a celebrative mood, did a sketch of the book signing -

mmm…I love flat roads

October 2nd, 2007 by akakumo

Having the past 2 months as a transport engineer i have found myself constantly get excited by two words, “bicycle lane (track)”.

I was never able to ride much in the past with unforgiving hills and speedy vehicles around the places I’ve lived. Nowadays however it’s one straight flat stretch of road to work.

Honestly I think it’s gonna be THE thing I miss the most when I do eventually move back to town. Oh how I envy those in the Netherlands or Japan…

Pencil Brands!!?

September 8th, 2007 by akakumo

Amazingly being an artist of almost completely favoring the use of pencil in my work, I never really thing about what brand of pencils I should be using. For many of us it’s all about the grade of the pencil whether it is 2H or 6B…or commonly HB

Just bump into a site of a pencil collector, http://www.brandnamepencils.com/

Very amazing the fact that there are so many brands around, and the branding designs on the pencil are an art itself.
